Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantships
A limited number of graduate teaching assistantships and graduate research assistantships are available to students who show academic promise and potential as effective laboratory teachers. Graduate Assistantships are half-time (20 hours per week) positions that provide a monthly stipend and a waiver for tuition. Out-of-state residents also receive a waiver of out-of-state fees.
Persons interested in applying for a graduate assistantship can find an application form in the Graduate Catalog, can obtain a form from the Graduate Coordinator, Dr. Charles Chusuei, or download the Graduate Assistantship Application form (To view this form you must have ADOBE ACROBAT READER installed.) The form should be mailed or faxed to:
Department of Chemistry
MTSU Box 68
Middle Tennessee State University
Murfreesboro, TN 37132
FAX 615-898-5182.
We encourage sending the graduate assistantship application to us at the same time as you apply for admission to the MTSU College of Graduate Studies. Assistantships are awarded at the same time as or after the students are accepted for admission. Since it can take time to get your other colleges to send in their official transcripts for admission, we encourage you to apply both for admission and for the assistantship as early as possible, but not later than November 25 for spring term, May 1 for summer term, or July 25 for fall term.
